The Quebec Online Gaming Coalition announced Tuesday it’s partnering with GeoComply, the fraud-prevention and cybersecurity company.
GeoComply is already partnering with several private online-gaming operators in Ontario, which signals a push for an Ontario-style, private, open, regulated igaming market in Quebec.
“GeoComply’s data will help paint a clear picture of Quebecers’ playing habits and provide additional guidance to our mission of a new regulatory and licensing framework in Québec. Their cutting-edge technology can help ensure safer online interactions for operators and users at all stages of the player journey, while achieving the highest standards in compliance,” said Nathalie Bergeron, a spokesperson for the Quebec Online Gaming Coalition.
The Quebec Online Gaming Coalition, which comprises Betway, Bet99, DraftKings, Entain, Flutter, Games Global and Rush Street Interactive, partnering with Apricot Investments, is committed to working with the Quebec government and local stakeholders to develop a new regulatory framework for the province. No personal player data or individual operator data from GeoComply will be shared.
“GeoComply joins the efforts of the coalition to advocate for a modernized online-gaming market that maximizes consumer protection, strengthens integrity, and delivers meaningful revenues to Quebec,” said Lindsay Slader, SVP Compliance with GeoComply. “Ontario’s success has proven that in an open yet regulated market, everyone wins.”
Last week, the coalition released research revealing that the 72% of Québec players who use Loto-Québec’s Espace Jeux platform do so exclusively to buy lottery tickets and 73% opt to play on privately operated online casino and sports betting platforms. That means 27% of players use Loto-Québec for sports betting and online casinos, according to the study.
