The gambler was not identified and did not sign a media release form with IGT Jackpots, the subsidiary of slot machine giant International Game Technology, which operates the statewide Megabucks system.

The total jackpot won was $11,183,715.84. The system resets to $10 million once a jackpot is hit.

Las Vegas media outlets reported they had reached out to Caesars Entertainment, which owns the Paris, but calls were not returned Sunday.

IGT launched Megabucks in 1986. IGT progressive jackpots typically offer a lump sum payment less than the actual jackpot or they can be paid out in annual installments over a number of years.

The record Megabucks jackpot still stands at $39.7 million. It was hit in 2003 at the Excalibur in Las Vegas.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal and KSNV-3 (NBC Las Vegas) contributed.
