Original article 2/4/21:

In Las Vegas, being in the red is not a good thing. But on Friday, the casino community will flash red lighting and messaging to help raise awareness of the No. 1 cause of death for women in the United States, cardiovascular disease.

The American Heart Association’s National Wear Red Day will paint Las Vegas red, with many casinos featuring special displays on marquees and outside casinos.

Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand, and the Strat Hotel, Casino & Skypod, are among the 20 gaming properties that have confirmed participation on the Strip and Downtown. The properties will place Wear Red Day messaging in their marquee rotation.

“It is wonderful to see the casino community come together for one cause,” says Krystal Webb, communications and market director for American Heart Association in Nevada “The Las Vegas Strip is one of the most recognizable landmarks in the world and when a majority of the signage centers around one issue, it sends a powerful message. “

National Wear Red Day is part of the AHA’s Go Red For Women initiative. Founded in 2004, the event is designed to draw attention to heart health for women.

The list of participating gaming properties includes:
