The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi’s Four Winds Casinos has announced a donation of $15,000 for the Berrien County Suicide Prevention Coalition (BCSPC), raised through fundraising efforts from Four Winds team members and donations from Four Winds Casinos.
The company held a dunk tank event, allowing team members to deduct from their payroll to purchase three or more balls to throw. If a ball successfully hit, a member of the Four Winds leadership was dunked. Balls could be thrown from 10 feet, 20 feet, and 30 feet.
The Interim Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Four Winds Casino, Clayton Mason, commented on the event, saying, “Four Winds Casinos is very proud of the giving spirit of our team members… We have been involved in supporting so many important causes and organizations over the years, and we sincerely appreciate the efforts of the [BCSPC]”.
Mason has been serving as CFO of Four Winds Casino since 2021, and took over as Interim COO in June 2023, following the departure of Frank Freedman.
The Berrien County Suicide Prevention Coalition’s mission is “To connect the people of Berreign County to the information and resources they need for emotional wellness, thereby preventing suicide.” The Coalition was first formed in 2012 and became an official advisory committee to the Berrien County Mental Health Authority.
The BCSPC organizes regular public meetings each month and provides a range of resources on its site, including training, a toolkit, and guidance to therapy.
Speaking about the donation, the Treasurer of the BCSPC, Brittany Frenchko, said, “I want to express my sincere gratitude to Four Winds Casinos for their donation of $15,000… To witness an organization come together to support the BCSPC was truly inspiring.”
