Light & Wonder continues to push boundaries in systems innovation. CANVAS is positioned as a next-generation systems platform that improves upon traditional Casino Management System technologies and brings new capabilities to operators.
CANVAS is a customizable, web-based dashboard that unifies all of Light & Wonder’s system applications into a single platform. It simplifies daily operations for casino operators and enhances productivity by providing a tailored interface for a seamless experience. It also supports L&W Engage, a system-agnostic solution that enhances loyalty programs regardless of the existing casino management system.
“CANVAS represents the evolution of user experience born from listening to our customers and embracing innovation,” said Lauren Cordeiro, vice president of systems products and commercial strategy for Light & Wonder. “Delivering a fully web-based, sophisticated dashboard that unifies access to all products in a single, customizable one-pane-of-glass interface for a seamless, continuous experience. The easier our products are to use, the better the operator-to-patron experience becomes, empowering operators with instant access to information so they can focus on delivering more meaningful, high-quality interactions with patrons.”
There are many applications built into CANVAS. Light & Wonder has even built in an AI-GPT tool that enables people to ask CANVAS any question around an application and get an answer.
CANVAS supports modern casino operations from player engagement and personalization to data management and floor optimization.
What operators now have is a holistic view of gaming and loyalty information from a customer and enterprise perspective, Cordeiro said. “CANVAS supports convergence across land-based and digital gaming environments. That enables operators to unify the player journey across platforms,” she explained.
“Instead of having to log into different applications across different lines of business, we’re bringing that all into one single space for the operator. Now, they are able to view the online, land-based or social aspect across the converged journey of the customer.”
Flexibility and scalability are major needs for operators today, and CANVAS accommodates different property sizes, regulatory environments, and future tech integrations, Cordeiro said.
“CANVAS can be for one single property but also scalable to large corporate entities that may have multiple properties,” she noted. “When you log into CANVAS, you can scroll through the data by property, multiple properties or the entire enterprise.”
From a regulatory environment Cordeiro said they built widgets applications around anti-money laundering and responsible gaming. CANVAS notifies operators around AML issues that have surfaced, and it can see if customers are playing too long or spending more money than they have in the past. That is required in some jurisdictions such as Australia and New Zealand, she said.
“So far the feedback has been incredible,” Cordeiro reported. “Customers are saying it saves them time in their day-to-day job because everything is in one place. It’s a modernized journey.”
CANVAS was built to meet the rigorous standards of regulated markets around the world, keeping security, compliance, and data integrity top of mind.
“Anytime we build an application, security is our number one focus, and we look at the top jurisdictions around the world and make sure we’re meeting those security measurements,” said Cordeiro.
Looking ahead to G2E and beyond, Cordeiro addressed how CANVAS fits into Light & Wonder’s long-term vision for systems and what should be expected next.
“As we continue to enhance our product stack, CANVAS will be at the center of that because we continue bringing data and applications into CANVAS,” she said.
Among what else to look forward to at G2E, Cordeiro cited TITO at Tables – Ticket in, Ticket Out – enabling ticket-based buy-ins at tables and creating parity between slot and table experiences.
There’s EBX, which is Light & Wonder’s Elite Bonusing Xperience. It maximizes player value through seamless engagement by setting goals to keep players motivated, offering instant prizes to spark excitement, using random rewards to trigger curiosity, providing scheduled bonuses to boost engagement, and showcasing visible advancement to encourage momentum, Cordeiro said.
She also noted that there is Expanded Cardless Functionality with Facial Recognition and NFC (Near Field Technology) at both the slot machine and table game, and said that it instantly connects players to their loyalty profiles, opens ratings seamlessly, and enhances both player security and player convenience.
The Land-Based to iGaming Converged Customer Journey delivers a unified loyalty system that rewards players seamlessly across both environments, recognizing total engagement regardless of where they play, Cordeiro added.
“It connects land-based slot floors with online games through linked jackpots to create larger prize pools and cross-channel anticipation; drives hybrid engagement with CrossPlay challenges that let players earn rewards and unlock achievements in both settings; and enables fluid, secure gameplay anywhere with a single wallet that moves funds instantly between casino floors and online platforms,” said Cordeiro.
