Dylan Slaney, recently appointed CEO of Aristocrat Interactive, previously worked for Light & Wonder, the NYX Gaming Group, and Dunnhumby, a customer data science company. At each stop along the way, Slaney has benefitted and learned from his peers.
“I’ve been fortunate to work with some great leaders who have connected culture with strategy to deliver meaningful outcomes for all stakeholders,” says Slaney, who joined Aristocrat Interactive in November 2025.
“Working across different industries has taught me to think broadly, to adapt quickly and look at how other companies have solved problems or captured opportunities. All of those experiences inform how I lead Aristocrat Interactive today, driving our culture and values to maximize outcomes aligned to our strategic priorities.”
Like others in the gaming industry, Slaney hadn’t dreamed of entering the space since childhood. What he did aspire to was working in an industry that combined creativity, technology, and understanding customer and player behavior.
“Gaming is unique because it sits at the intersection of entertainment and innovation,” he says. “When I joined NYX (a provider of online gaming platforms), I saw an opportunity to help shape an industry that’s constantly evolving and pushing boundaries. It wasn’t about following a childhood dream, it was about recognizing the potential to make a real impact in a space that touches millions of players worldwide, each day.”
With Aristocrat Interactive, Slaney will be primarily focused on iGaming. In the U.S., he feels that iGaming is in its early stages compared to more mature markets such as Europe.
The possibilities for iGaming growth in the U.S. are tremendous.
“Regulatory frameworks are opening state by state, and each new jurisdiction represents the opportunity to innovate and expand responsibly,” Slaney says. “I see iGaming as a sleeping giant, but one that’s beginning to stir. The demand is there, the technology is ready, and the appetite for engaging digital entertainment continues to grow. The next few years will be about unlocking that potential in a way that’s sustainable and aligned with player expectations.”
Technologically, iGaming is ready for advancement, Slaney feels. It’s regulatory and cultural hurdles that must be overcome.
“iGaming can deliver personalized and safe experiences, but it must do so within frameworks that protect players and ensure integrity,” Slaney says. “The challenge is balancing innovation with responsibility. As long as we keep player trust at the centre, iGaming can continue to evolve without hitting a ceiling.”
In five years, Slaney expects iGaming to be mainstream in the US, with multiple states offering “regulated, robust platforms. The industry will have matured, with stronger safeguards, more diverse content, and deeper integration with other forms of entertainment.”
Slaney believes iGaming will be part of the broader gaming ecosystem that complements land-based casinos and engages players. If everything goes as planned, Aristocrat Interactive will be positioned to influence how markets expand and grow.
“To bring that to reality, we have to be seen as a leader across all areas where our players and customers engage with us today: iLottery, iGaming and Gaming Systems,” Slaney says. “That means expanding responsibly into new markets, delivering world-class content and products, and building trust with regulators, partners, and players. Ultimately, I want Aristocrat to be synonymous with innovation, integrity, and entertainment in the digital space and with our people as our superpower. I’m focused on fostering an environment where our people can be their authentic selves and can thrive, and together we deliver for our players and partners.”
