The Florida Gaming Control Commission on Oct. 30 appointed Alana Zimmer as its Executive Director.

The Executive Director is responsible for directing, coordinating, and administering activities necessary to fulfill the commission’s responsibilities in accordance with Section 16.712, Florida Statutes, through preserving and protecting the integrity of gaming activities in Florida.

“Alana has shown outstanding leadership throughout her career, and I am confident she will work hard to eliminate illegal gambling and support Florida citizens and businesses,” FGCC Vice Chair Julie Imanuel Brown said in a statement. “We welcome Alana back to Florida and Tallahassee, where she went to college at Florida State University. We are excited to see where all her talents and skills will take FGCC.”

Zimmer most recently worked as the Executive Director of the Kansas City Automotive Museum, leading a $30 million capital campaign. She also served as a Commissioner with the Kansas Lottery from 2016 until 2019.

“I am honored to be appointed by the Florida Gaming Control Commission as its Executive Director,” said Zimmer. “My experience with modernizing the Kansas Lottery and expanding responsible gaming initiatives will transfer well to my new role as the FGCC Executive Director. I look forward to working closely with the governor and legislature on improving and expanding responsible gaming in Florida.”
