Recently, my husband and I spent our fifteenth anniversary at the newly updated Caesars New Orleans. It was a perfect night.
The night started at Nobu Hotel, and let me tell you, it was fabulous! The room felt sophisticated yet comfortable. It was filled with all the extras you’d expect from this upscale brand: a Nespresso machine, a tea set, chocolates upon arrival and at turn-down, and even a Dyson hair straightener – which I honestly thought someone had forgotten in the room since I had never seen an amenity like that in a hotel room. But the pièce de résistance that took my breath away was the stunning teak soaking tub! Absolutely fabulous!
Heading down to the casino, we were immediately greeted by Octavia – the bar, not Caesar Augustus’s sister. Octavia features a glowing chandelier made of over 600 fiber optic tubes. It’s huge, 26 feet tall and 31 feet wide! We ordered a drink and enjoyed the ambiance.
Next stop was dinner at The Steakhouse (that’s the name… the steakhouse is named The Steakhouse) and it was amazing. From Chef Paul Robert to the staff to the drinks and food – everything was perfect. We started with the focaccia and the BBQ shrimp. Oh my!
At first taste, my words to my husband were, “This was made with love.” Seriously, a good New Orleans style BBQ shrimp makes me so happy, and happy I was! For the main course, we each had a perfectly cooked steak and lobster tail with a side of crab risotto. We ended up boxing up some of our food to save room for dessert because they looked too good to pass up. We tried the molten chocolate cake and the cheesecake – they both made me giddy.
After dinner, we explored the casino, which has more than 1,100 slot and video poker machines, plus 110 table games. After playing a bit of slots in the high-limit slot area, we decided to relax in the massive sportsbook area and play some video poker while watching a baseball game on big screens. It was a great mix of excitement and comfort.
We ended the night with a walk along the Riverfront area, just across the street from the casino. The night was perfect for exploring the city with a nice breeze and lots of musicians serenading tourists and locals.
As we made our way back to the casino, we couldn’t help but reflect on how far we’ve come and how much we’ve changed over the last fifteen years. With all of the changes to Caesars New Orleans, it was the perfect backdrop to celebrate. Here’s to many more nights like this one… and maybe a few more BBQ shrimp too.
