Century Casinos, which closed its properties in Poland back in December due to a resurgence in COVID-19, said it reopened the eight casinos last Friday.
The government mandate allowing casinos to reopen is limited until Feb. 28 and expected to be reassessed by then.
Casinos throughout Poland were closed on Dec. 28 to comply with a quarantine imposed by the Polish government to contain the spread of COVID-19. The regulation lifting the lockdown for casinos includes social distancing practices and enhanced health and safety protocols.
Century, which is headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado, owns a 66.6% stake in Casinos Poland Ltd. The company said its Poland operating segment contributed 4% of Century’s overall cash flow for the quarter that ended Sept. 30.
In a statement, Century told investors there was no assurance that the casinos will be allowed to remain open past Feb. 28. If the casinos are required to close again at that time, Century said it would report the closures through a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.
Century operates casinos and racetrack casinos in Colorado, West Virginia, Missouri, and Canada
Century shares, traded on the Nasdaq, closed last week at $8.05.
