CODACON President: “Sky gambling adverts are wrong and dangerous”

Carlo Rienzi, President of the Coordination of the Association for the Defense of the Environment and the Rights of Users and Consumers (CODACON), pointed out that “the order of the Court of Milan on gambling advertising during football matches is not only wrong but also dangerous”.

That was Rienzi’s response to the decision by the First Instance of the Court, which states that advertisements broadcast by Sky during football matches do not violate the limits on gambling advertising.

“We hope that the Milan judges who issued the order never have children who gamble,” Rienzi said.

“The protection of minors from risks related to betting and gambling can never be part-time, and it is clear that the Court he has not understood in the least the influence of advertising on the boys who follow football matches broadcast on TV, particularly (advertisements for) sensitive subjects, considering their age”, he added.

According to Rienzi, CODACON “will continue its battle for justice”, supporting compensation on behalf of families suffering the consequences of having children who gamble.
