Casino and racetrack operator Churchill Downs said it will reopen properties in five states, beginning Friday with its casinos in Florida and Pennsylvania.

Following the reopenings, which will conclude next week, Churchill Downs will have seven of its 10 gaming properties – closed due to the coronavirus pandemic – back in operation.

“We are grateful to our teams who have ensured smooth, safe, and successful reopenings over the past month and to our returning guests who have enthusiastically adapted to new protocols,” said Churchill Downs CEO Bill Carstanjen.

The Kentucky-based company will reopen Calder Casino in Miami Gardens, Florida, and Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin in Pennsylvania on Friday. On Saturday, Churchill Downs will reopen the Fair Grounds Racecourse & Slots in New Orleans. The company’s 12 off-track betting locations in Louisiana previously reopened on May 18.

On June 19, Churchill Downs will reopen Ocean Downs Casino in Maryland and Miami Valley Gaming in Ohio.

Each property will operate under specific capacity restrictions in compliance with state and local requirements. All Churchill Downs’s properties will implement and practice the company-specific guidelines, which include initiatives to facilitate social distancing, personal protection, and enhanced cleaning.
