Churchill Downs appoints Andréa Carter to board of directors

Churchill Downs Incorporated Friday announced the appointment of Andréa Carter to its board of directors.

Carter, currently senior executive vice president and chief human resources officer for Atlanta, Georgia-based Global Payments, has more than 20 years of experience in human resources.

“It is a distinct honor to welcome Andréa Carter as the newest member to the Board,” said CDI Chairman of the Board of Directors Alex Rankin in a statement. “She brings with her a wealth of experience building world-class talent functions within successful companies and will undoubtedly make a meaningful and long-lasting impact on CDI as we continue to evolve.”

Carter has worked in human-resources executive roles for companies including Ralph Lauren, Newell Rubbermaid, and Home Depot. She has been recognized in feature articles by the Atlanta Business Chronicle and Atlanta magazine, was named a Power 300 Most Influential Black Executive by Savoy magazine, and featured in Women’s Inc.’s Most Influential Women Execs in Corporate America. Carter is a 2021 recipient of the UNCF Mankind Assisting Student Kindle Educational Dreams Award.

Ms. Carter was appointed as a Class II Director and increases the CDI Board of Directors to nine members. Her term will expire at the 2025 shareholders meeting.
