Century Casinos to close Poland properties for three weeks

Colorado-based Century Casinos said Monday it was closing its gaming properties in Poland for three weeks to comply with quarantines issued by the Polish government to contain the spread of COVID-19.

The company planned to close its eight casinos in the country starting Monday night through January 18.

Century owns 66.6% ownership interest in Casinos Poland Ltd. In a statement, the company said its Poland operating segment contributed 4% of Century’s overall cashflow for the quarter that ended Sept. 30.

Century, which is headquartered in Colorado Springs, operates casinos and racetrack casinos in Colorado, West Virginia, Missouri and Canada

In a statement, Century said rapid evolvement of COVID-19 and the pandemic’s current scope “will adversely impact the company at least through the first half of 2021.”

Century shares, traded on the Nasdaq, were up 9 cents or 1.40% on Monday to close at $6.50.
