Frank Strombo was honored for his service to the casino security and surveillance industry at the World Game Protection Conference in Las Vegas.
Strombo is the recipient of the 2026 WGPC Lifetime Achievement Award, presented to him Thursday on the closing day of the three-day conference of security professionals.
Currently serving as the director of security and surveillance at the Hyatt Regency Panama, Strombo has more than 40 years experience in the security and surveillance industry, including 30 years in management roles at various casinos across Europe and South America.
Strombo is a former chairman and member of the International Association for Casino Security (IACS) and is the founder and Chairman of Asociación Latino Americana de Seguridad de Casinos (ALASCA), which is dedicated to protecting gaming operations across Latin America.
Strombo is the 12th inductee into the World Game Protection Conference “Hall of Fame.”
Conference founder Willy Allison said Strombo is being recognized for “a long outstanding career, dedication to game protection, and generous sharing of knowledge with others within the casino industry.”
Allison said he got to know Strombo several years ago when he started a surveillance network in Latin America, saying Strombo realized there was a need for sharing information amongst the countries. “He’s the kind of guy I can call at any time and he’s very open and generous with his knowledge and intel,” Strombo said. “He’s just a nice bloke.”
Strombo said he was surprised by the honor, saying all he has done over the years is his job. He said he was fortunate in the early 1990s when he started as a manager that he joined IACS when it was a small European association. When he saw the void in Latin America, Strombo said it was necessary to bring a similar framework to that region.
“The reason we didn’t have anyone from Latin America in the international one is probably the language,” Strombo said. “We made ALASCA, and today there are around 900 casinos. We cover 50% of the market in Latin America, with a ways to go.”
