Casino Rama, located 100 miles north of Toronto, has begun a major refurbishment project, with extensive upgrades throughout the property, according to an announcement by Gateway Casinos & Entertainment.
Robert Mitchell, a spokesperson for Gateway, said the renovations are deliberately being staged in increments, so the consumer experience isn’t impacted. The project is being undertaken in partnership with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) and Rama First Nation.
Everything from the hotel rooms to the gaming floor and common areas will be upgraded. The spa and fitness center will be expanded, with a new spa on the floor at the resort hotel (expected to be completed by April).
Visitors to the property will notice new dining options as well, including Chow Lucky Noodle Bar, an Asian-inspired eatery featuring wok-fired favorites, soups, and bowls. The property’s signature restaurant brand, MATCH Eatery & Public House, a pub and sports bar, is under construction and will feature a large outdoor patio for the first time at the casino adjacent to the casino entrance. That is expected to be completed by February .
The resort is filling 28 positions as part of the project, including jobs in culinary/food and beverage, banquet and event, housekeeping, plumbing, environmental services, and leadership roles.
“Our employees have been the key to our success for many years, and I am excited about the career opportunities this announcement brings for our team while creating more jobs in the community”, said Helen Cooper, General Manager of Casino Rama Resort, in a statement provided to the media. “We are looking for those who share our passion for people and commitment to customer service. I’m excited to see the reaction of our amazing patrons when they experience our re-energized resort and look forward to expanding our team in the process.”
