Carl Brincat, former CEO of the Malta Gaming Authority, has been appointed Director of Policy and Regulatory Affairs at LeoVegas.
Brincat will manage relationships with authorities and regulators as LeoVegas expands into new global markets. This follows LeoVegas’ recent acquisition of Tipico’s U.S. operations, marking the end of Tipico’s presence in the U.S. betting market and paving the way for LeoVegas to broaden its footprint.
“I’m very excited to be joining LeoVegas Group,” Brincat said in a news release. “The LeoVegas ethos aligns with my own, and I can’t wait to lead the team in supporting the plans to expand commercially whilst continuing to enhance the already excellent relationships with regulators and policymakers around the globe.”
Brincat will assume his position in August and report directly to Abby Cosgrave, LeoVegas’ Chief Legal and Compliance Officer.
“I’m very happy to welcome Carl Brincat to LeoVegas Group,” Cosgrave said in a news release. “He brings an impressive wealth of experience from his tenure at the Malta Gaming Authority, which will be a great asset as we continue to rapidly expand internationally.”
Brincat left MGA in January after the expiration of his three-year fixed appointment as CEO. He held multiple positions during his nine-year tenure with the company, including Chief Legal Counsel, Chief Legal & Enforcement Officer and, most recently, CEO.
