A record setting 2,000 attendees gathered at the recent Canadian Gaming Summit in Toronto, Ontario. The 26th edition of the event, the first produced and organized by SBC in partnership with the Canadian Gaming Association, took place June 13-15 at the Metro Toronto Convention Center.
“We wanted to work with SBC because of their expertise in organizing gaming conferences worldwide,” said CGA President & CEO Paul Burns in a statement. “I think it’s been evident in the huge attendance that the execution has been fantastic. Everybody’s talking about what a wonderful event it has been.”
Over three days, the Canadian Gaming Summit featured 180 speakers familiar with the Canadian gaming market at various conference sessions. More than 90 exhibitors and sponsors were present on the tradeshow floor and at networking events.
“I came to this event last year and it’s a very different feel this time around,” said Betting Hero President Jai Maw. “This event is evolving, and SBC brought more creative companies and ideas. You brought together the thought leaders and highlighted the intricacies of this market, which are many, so when I think about the innovations happening in the industry, the first event I go to is an event like this. I’m really impressed with SBC.”
SBC CEO & Founder Rasmus Sojmark said the company’s first foray into Canada “surpassed all expectations.”
“Prior to the summit, we engaged in extensive conversations with exhibitors, sponsors, and speakers, delving into the nuances of the market to better cater to our audience,” Sojmark said. “Leveraging the vast network of SBC connections, we managed to elevate this event into the pinnacle gathering for the Canadian gaming industry.”
Participating speakers included Duncan Hannay, Ontario Lottery & Gaming Corporation President & CEO, who delivered the opening remarks. Other featured speakers included British Columbia Lottery Corporation Chief Compliance Officer Marie-Noelle Savoie, Steve Tunison, Gaming Saskatchewan VP of Gaming, and Mohegan Gaming CEO Ray Pineault.
“Having the opportunity to hear panels that included our province’s attorney general (Doug Downey), representatives from igaming Ontario, and the CEO of our regulator – you don’t get that very often,” said Ontario Lottery and Gaming VP Community, Sustainability & Social Responsibility, Catherine Meade. “That was huge. A great deal of thought has been put into selecting the panelists who would work together and not only build on what the other is saying but share some different perspectives and share them with respect. Those elements can make something go from being good to great.”
