The Red Hawk Casino in Placerville, California, broke ground June 24 for a 150-room hotel.
Owned by the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians, the addition of the hotel is the casino’s first expansion since it opened in December 2008.
“Today marks a long-awaited day for the Tribe as we break ground on our highly anticipated hotel,” said Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians Chairwoman Regina Cuellar in a statement. “This expansion brings additional economic benefits to the tribe and the community of El Dorado County. It has been the Tribe’s mission to honor the past and celebrate the future, and the Red Hawk Casino hotel will be sure to do both.”
The hotel is being developed and designed by Williams and Paddon Architects and Planners, with Level 10 Construction and Avanti Builders doing the construction. The five-story hotel, approximately 120,000 square feet, will include 25 suites among the 150 rooms. Other amenities include an outdoor terrace with a pool and fitness center, with tribal elements incorporated in the design.
“Casino guests and community members have inquired for years about a hotel at Red Hawk Casino,” said Red Hawk Casino CEO Bryan deLugo in a statement. “Finally bringing this project to fruition will offer additional first-class amenities to our guests and community members.”
Located near the Sierra Nevada foothills, the casino features 2,000 slots, table games, and five restaurants.
The project is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2022.
