WWE announced Saturday during the Belmont Stakes pre-race show on NBC that SummerSlam will take place Aug. 21 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
It was previously announced that WWE was departing from its usual practice of holding pay-per-views on Sundays in favor of staging SummerSlam on a Saturday night.
SummerSlam is one of WWE’s biggest events every year, but it is an even bigger deal this year since it will occur in the midst of WWE returning to the road to tour in front of live fans.
WWE held shows without fans for most of 2020 and 2021 thus far with the exception of WrestleMania 37.
