In the city the Monopoly board game was based on, developers are engaging in a real-life race to plunk down houses, hotels and attractions.

And while the wave of projects big and small does not yet rival the gold rush days of the late 1970s and early ’80s when casino gambling was in its infancy, Atlantic City appears to be having another moment in the sun as far as development goes.

From multibillion-dollar residential and entertainment projects to single-family homes, the city is enjoying a spate of development that, for the first time in decades, has drawn some of the state’s largest builders to the seaside resort, including K. Hovnanian and the Kushner Companies.
