One of Dederie Fojuwaye’s favorite things to do at Legends Casino Hotel is to mingle with the people from nonprofit groups receiving grants.
Fojuwaye, the casino’s marketing director, said she talks with recipients of the Yakama Cares and Community Impact Fund grants the Yakama Nation casino disburses each year and hears how the money will make a difference in the groups’ work.
“I love hearing their stories,” Fojuwaye said at Wednesday’s ceremony in the casino’s event center. Representatives of each group posed for pictures with ceremonial checks, and enjoyed refreshments provided by the casino.
More than 130 organizations received a share of the $1.09 million allocated by the casino, which represents half of one percent of the casino’s net revenue.
