This week marks the one-year anniversary of the grand opening of the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Bristol.

Over the past year Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Bristol has paid $45,765,170 in gaming taxes to the Commonwealth of Virginia.

$13.1 million of those funds went to the Regional Improvement Commission, a group of 12 counties and 2 cities in Southwest Virginia. Those localities evenly split that figure, coming out to $941,860 each – a big help according to Washington County, VA County Administrator Jason Berry.

“I think it’s been a godsend and a blessing, if you will, to all localities within the Regional Improvement Commission,” Berry said.
