The UK government’s gambling harms prevention commissioner has said last-minute it may discriminate against charities that received funding under the old system, just days before a funding application deadline.
NEXT.io understands that the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID), responsible for commissioning gambling harm prevention services under the new statutory levy funding model, communicated to stakeholders how it would score bids for funding under the new system last Friday (30 January).
The new model – implemented as part of the Government’s slate of gambling reforms and which replaces the old voluntary regime – has faced criticism from harms sector insiders who have alleged the roll-out has been botched amid inadequate stopgap measures.
