Genting Casino in Westcliff-on-Sea has been forced to close with immediate effect after RAAC was discovered in the building’s roof during routine maintenance. The business has apologised “wholeheartedly” for the closure but said safety is its primary concern.
The building will be closed while an investigation determines the extent of the problem. As of yet no date for re-opening has been specified.
A statement from Genting Casino’s Westcliff branch said: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Genting Casino Westcliff is closed with immediate effect. Through routine maintenance it has come to light that some of the roof structure was manufactured from RAAC – this is the concrete which has recently been in the press as affecting a number of schools and other buildings which were built around a certain time.”
