UK Gambling Commission to close Advisory Board for Safer Gambling

The Gambling Commission will close the Advisory Board for Safer Gambling (ABSG) and replace it with a more research-focused organisztion.

The British gambling regulator announced on Friday (19 September) that the body charged with overseeing its National Strategy to Reduce Gambling Harms will close, with a new group to be put in place “to focus on new arrangements better aligned to the next phase of research and regulation”.

The National Strategy was launched in April 2019 and helped inform the UK’s approach to combating gambling harms ahead of the publication of the Gambling Act Review white paper, which proposed a widescale series of RG changes.
