GambleAware received £430,813 [$550K] in donations and pledges for the first quarter of the 2023-24 financial year ended 30 June. This was down by 1.1% from Q1 in GambleAware’s 2022-23 financial year.
The total amount was made up of £317,099 in Research, Education and Treatment contributions from operators and £113,714 in non-RET donations, all of which came from 888.
Non-RET donations consist of unclaimed winnings or funds from dormant betting accounts.
Currently, operators are asked to donate a minimum 0.1% of their gross gaming yield (GGY) to GambleAware every year. But the Gambling Act review white paper has called for a mandatory levy, a move that GambleAware has publicly supported.
