A group of 12 world-leading jockeys have reportedly joined forces to launch a new global horse racing league.
The league is expected to launch across some of the most prestigious racing venues globally later this year, and will feature household names including Frankie Dettori, Ryan Moore and William Buick.
According to various media reports, each of the 12 jockeys involved will head up their own team, competing for points in up to 10 new six-race fixtures annually. The jockeys are expected to own equity in their teams as well as being shareholders in the league.
The league’s organizers are said to be seeking commercial partners for the competition and its teams, with a target of securing a total prize fund of $15m within two years.
