Swedish horse race betting operator ATG highlighted the high number of locally licensed B2B providers supporting the unlicensed betting sector in a recent report.

The state-owned operator released a report on Wednesday (12 March), showing that the country’s channelisation rate in Q4 2024 was between 69% and 82%, well below the official 90% target.

It follows the introduction of a competitive licensing model in 2019, which ATG noted has resulted in a ten-fold increase in online gambling traffic — with the offshore segment now worth SEK 150bn (€14.5bn) annually.

The report also outlined that 17 out of the 20 largest unlicensed online gambling sites in Sweden use the same licensed platform providers as legal offerings, which it said should not be possible.
