The Massachusetts Gaming Commission is closely monitoring the abrupt closure of the Raynham Park simulcasting parlor, one of the state’s few gambling facilities that predate its casinos.
During a gaming commission meeting last week, MGC racing director Alex Lightbown said she had heard from an executive at Raynham Park that the closure would just be temporary, and that the owners wanted to hang onto their simulcasting license. The Raynham facility, long overseen by members of the Carney family, closed down after Christmas, though it reopened for a few days in January to allow patrons to retrieve money from their betting accounts.
