Steuben County leaders are asking state lawmakers to include them in discussions about bringing a new casino to northeast Indiana as Fort Wayne officials push for a gaming facility in Allen County.

Steuben County Commission President Wil Howard testified at the Statehouse last month, telling lawmakers the county wants to be part of the casino conversation.

“We believe Steuben County represents a strong location for a northeast region casino,” Howard said.

Two bills are currently under consideration in Indiana that address the potential for a new casino. Senate Bill 70 would allow the Rising Star Casino to move from Ohio County to Allen County.
