Saracen Casino Resort in Pine Bluff has asked the Arkansas Racing Commission to change its rules to allow online gambling — beyond online poker and sports betting, which are already allowed.
The change would help the state combat “bad actors” who are illegally offering online gambling to Arkansas residents, including minors, said Carlton Saffa, chief market officer for Saracen.
Saffa wrote a five-page letter to Commission Chairman Alex Lieblong about it on March 13.
“As a body, you have the tools and the precedent to authorize a legal, regulated, transparent, and taxable alternative to these bad actors,” wrote Saffa. “Without action, these entities will continue to grow their presence in Arkansas.”
