The Win-River Resort and Casino is celebrating its 32nd anniversary, marking a significant milestone for the Redding Rancheria. The casino’s journey began after the tribe was restored to federal recognition in 1983. Jack Potter, Chairman of the Redding Rancheria, reflected on the early days when tribal elders held meetings in their homes to strategize ways to rebuild their tribal nation.
“There’s a lack of resources from the federal government,” said Potter. “And because of that vision from the elders, 32 years later, we’re still surviving. Even with the government’s shortfalls and the lack of some funding, we’re still able to provide for our nation.”
