October was a record-shattering month for sports wagering in Virginia as new high marks were set…in amounts wagered, won, profits, and tax revenues generated.

A new report from the Virginia Lottery shows Virginians wagered over $571.3 million during the month, eclipsing the previous record established in October 2022 of $528 million — an 8% increase year over year.

More than $565.5 million in wagers were placed online through mobile smart phone applications while $5.8 million were placed in casino sports books now operating in Bristol, Danville and Portsmouth, plus at Colonial Downs and Rosie’s in Richmond. Both totals were new records.

Players emerged with more than $507.35 million in winnings.
