Jonathon Kinchen, annually one of the most prominent competitors in the National Horseplayers Championship, was disqualified Saturday after it was discovered he was in Florida and not inside the competition venue at Bally’s Las Vegas, sources told Horse Racing Nation.

“We will make a statement at the end of the tournament,” said chief operating officer Keith Chamblin of the National Thoroughbred Racing Association, which runs the NHC…

Three sources told HRN that Kinchen had flown from Las Vegas to South Florida to attend Saturday’s renewal of the Grade 1, $3 million Pegasus World Cup Invitational at Gulfstream Park. While there, he had a runner at Bally’s placing the mythical wagers required of him and all contestants.
