Portugal’s casino revenue up 12.5 per cent in fourth quarter

Portugal’s land-based casino sector enjoyed yearly revenue growth of 12.5 per cent in its fourth quarter to reach €72.6m [$82.1m], although it fell by 4.3 per cent from the third quarter.

Slot machines dominated the market accounting for €53.9m of the total with traditional casino tables and bingo generating €18.8m, an increase of 36.9 per cent. American roulette was the top performer, bringing in €6.9m in GGR.

Online betting and gaming set a new quarterly record at the close of 2024, with gross revenue reaching €323m, up 42.1 per cent year-on-year.

Online sports betting generated €138.3 m with casino games, up 20 per cent to reach €184.6m with online slots accounting for 80 per cent of the total.
