More people are betting on professional golf.
The PGA Tour is helping all it can.
With affiliations with digital betting sites such as DraftKings and expanding coverage of PGA Tour Live Betcast on the ESPN App, the Tour is hoping for another year of gains in golf wagering. The Tour reported this week that last year’s handle on golf betting across all platforms — digital, brick and mortar sports books and casinos — increased 20 percent over the previous year, the fourth consecutive year in which there have been double-digit gains.
Growth also coincided with the three-tournament FedEx Cup Playoffs in August, with a 50 percent growth in wagering on the St. Jude Classic, the BMW Championship and the Tour Championship, with the handle at the latter event at the East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta more than doubling.
