This week, Greenwood Gaming and Entertainment announced it will open a Parx Casino in Shippensburg on Feb. 3. The new Pennsylvania casino will be the state’s fourth satellite casino and 15th casino overall.
Derek Burnstein, a manager at a Verizon Wireless store near the casino, said he believes Parx will be a good thing for the area. “We’re excited,” Burnstein told ABC affiliate WHTM.
“We’re excited to see what kind of business will come to us and to other small businesses as well. Pretty much the economic growth in the community would be good.”
Satellite casinos are smaller-scale locations that are allowed to have 300-750 slots and a maximum of 30 table games.
