Construction is underway at the site of the former Macy’s at the Nittany Mall to transform it into the Happy Valley Casino.
The Casino announced its official name and logo last week. Eric Pearson, CEO and manager of Happy Valley Casino, hopes that the addition of 750 slot machines, 30 table games, and two dining options will help rejuvenate the mall.
“We see it as one of the only things that can bring some significant redevelopment and new energy into the Nittany Mall area,” Pearson said.
The project has been met with some concerns, such as the poor state of the parking lot surrounding the building, but Pearson said that it will be repaved. Others have expressed concerns that with its close proximity to the Penn State campus, it could indirectly target college students.
