Pennsylvania has become the sixth US state to join the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement for online poker.

The development was confirmed when Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro signed the agreement this week. The agreement enables the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board to work with other state gaming regulators and online operators.

Pennsylvania has an estimated 150,000 online poker players, and the state’s addition to the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement will expand the pool of players by more than 50%. This means that the shared market includes more than 38 million US players.

The other five states in the market, whose regulators can cooperate to provide a secure and safe playing environment, are New Jersey, Nevada, Delaware, West Virginia, and Michigan.
