Paddy Power, the Irish gambling giant, has indicated that it plans to shut 13 shops in a post-pandemic cull of the most poorly performing parts of its estate.
Most of the outlets are in the greater Dublin area. Market sources also say the bookmaker has put up to 50 shops on a watch list as it monitors punter behaviour. Paddy Power, part of Flutter Entertainment, is believed to operate between 250 and 300 shops in Ireland.
“Similar to many retail businesses, we regularly review our estate to ensure we are operating efficiently,” said Conor Grant, chief executive officer of Flutter Entertainment UK and Ireland.
