As NBC5 News first reported Thursday, the plans for the Coquille tribe’s proposed casino in Medford are moving forward, after the Bureau of Indian Affairs said it will issue a statement supporting the plan.
The tribe is saying they want it to be a positive addition to the city. The plan is to remodel the Roxy Ann Lanes bowling alley in South Medford, on South Pacific Highway. The tribe owns the 2.4 acres of land there, including the Compass by Margaritaville hotel and Bear Creek Golf Center. The proposal is a class two casino, meaning no table games but over 600 slot machines.
