I should listen more often to the good instincts of my wife.
When Roanoke Mayor Joe Cobb proposed a casino at the Berglund Center, I had an immediate negative reaction, the reasons which I’ll set forth.
However, my wife had a different reaction than mine. She said “I thought the Berglund Center is a family place, where we take the grandchildren to the circus or hockey games, where we attend the symphony, Broadway shows and the annual Kiwanis pancake breakfast.”
I believe she’s right. The Berglund Center is not the place for a casino. Now, here are some of my objections.
