Gananoque has received $33.8 million [US$24.5 million] from the Shorelines Casino Thousand Islands since it opened in 2002, but the town is now seeing a downward trend in revenues that could affect future budgets.

A report presented to council Tuesday shows the casino provided $938,302 between April 2024 and March 2025.

With reserve balances carried over, Gananoque had $1.83 million available for projects in 2024/25. By Dec.31, 2024, $984,124 had been applied to local projects.

That included $780,239 for infrastructure such as road works, salt shed upgrades and Town Hall remediation; $82,883 for tourism and economic development, including the Rural Economic Development Project, the 1000 Islands Wanderer, waterfront concerts and the Festival of Lights; $81,366 in community grants; and $39,635 for parks and recreation projects.
