Striking workers at casinos in Pickering and Ajax could be back on the job as early as Saturday, as they are poised to vote on a tentative agreement struck with their employer.
Both Unifor Local 1090 and Great Canadian Gaming Corp. have hailed the tentative deal, struck Aug. 4, as good news. Members are to vote on the deal today, Aug. 5.
The strike began July 29, and affected operations at Casino Ajax and Pickering Casino Resort.
“These were tough negotiations and we were able to get to a tentative agreement because members took a principled stand for better working conditions,” said Corey Dalton, President of Local 1090. “Gaming sector workers deserve fairness during these uncertain economic times.”
