Casino funds have made a big difference in Brantford over the years, says Mayor Kevin Davis.
Total payouts received by the city over the past 25 years has reached a milestone of $100,000,000 from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation.
“The city has proudly re-invested these funds through annual contributions to support the efforts of various not-for-profit organizations in our community,” said Davis at a recognition event held at the casino Oct. 4.
“We are deeply grateful for the ongoing partnership with OLG and for their ongoing commitment as a corporate citizen and generous contributor to Brantford’s growth and well-being for the last 25 years.”
While a city news release characterized the money as “donations”, the quarterly payouts, begun in 2000, are the city’s “earnings” as a host location, coming from five-percent of the gross slot revenue.
