Ohio’s casinos and racinos took in $2.33 billion in gambling revenue in 2022, narrowly breaking the record they set in 2021 as they headed into the new era of sports gambling on a high note.

December will be the last month in Ohio where casinos and racinos could only offer tables games, poker rooms and slot machines. Sports gambling became legal in 2023, which creates the potential for even more gambling revenue.

The state’s 11 casinos and racinos had $2.31 billion of revenue in 2021, about $2.3 million shy of 2022, according to reports Tuesday from the Ohio Casino Control and Lottery commissions…

Fueled by pent-up demand, 2021′s revenue had shattered the $1.94 billion record set in 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic.
