NFL teams with foreign marketing rights will have greater freedom to sell sportsbook sponsorships in their designated countries, part of a series of changes made today to give teams more chances to make money and recruit new fans overseas. Until now, teams in the NFL’s Global Markets program could only sell sponsorships to sportsbooks with league-level deals, which is one company each in most markets. However, teams can now sell to any legal gambling operator in their countries.
This will not fundamentally change the short-term revenue projections teams have for the program, but two team sources said it was a good step toward better monetization.
