Gov. Kathy Hochul said she will not investigate MGM’s sudden decision to withdraw its bid for a casino license in Yonkers, despite calls from local officials to scrutinize the move.
Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano, who told “Mornings On 1” that he was “stunned” by MGM’s move, called on the governor to launch an investigation into their decision-making process.
“It’s no secret that the big winner from this reversal will be Bally’s proposal for a casino at the former Trump Links in Whitestone,” he said in a statement, referring to Bally’s proposed casino at Ferry Point in the Bronx. “It’s also no secret that Bally’s has a deal with Donald Trump that they will pay him an additional $115 million if they can open a casino there.”
