These platforms, which include names like Chumba, Luckyland, and Zula Casino, have been on the receiving end of cease and desist letters due to offering online gambling options using virtual coins that can be exchanged for real cash or prizes—a no-go in the Empire State. The operation was a co-effort by the Office of the Attorney General and the New York State Gaming Commission, as they put an end to what they considered rogue and unregulated gaming operations.
