The new state takeover law proposed by New Jersey legislators would take another big bite out of the city’s decision-making powers by allowing the state to pick a “master developer” to do big projects in the resort.
But its sponsor says the bill does not apply to Bader Field, the 150-acre tract where an automobile-themed development proposal has been pending for three years.
The text makes no mention of Bader Field.
The state Senate Budget and Appropriations committee on Monday advanced the bill and amended it to make the latest state takeover of the city last six years instead of the five called for in an earlier draft of the measure.
